Still So Sweet After 70 years
Fizz Whizz turned 70 in October 2017 and this sweet treat is still sizzling for the kids in Australia and maybe a couple of adults..
This sugary treat so much a part of the lollies that we had to have as children and still as memorable has always come with a spoon. Created and made by Melbourne based Fyna Foods, it may have been the inspiration for the song in the Mary Poppins movie that “A Spoonful of Sugar Helps The Medicine Go Down”.
This much loved Australian brand of sherbet even has its own Wikipedia page.
A family business that started with 12 staff now employs 88 fulltime staff producing more than 50,000 sachets and plastic spoons daily 70 years after it started, it is still gaining new fans.
Celebrations for this lolly’s milestone took place in October 2017 where it starred wholesale promotional products at events held at Melbourne’s St Kilda Town Hall and Werribee Zoo and at Luna Park’s Haloween Party in Sydney.
